In the meantime, these are some of *my* favorite dance weekends and places to dance.
My favorite dance week is probably Contradancer's Delight Holiday. For the 5 days between Christmas and New Year’s Eve Warren & Terry Doyle put on an amazing line up of dances in a lovely resort in Morgantown, W Va. There are dances ALL day long, as well as workshops and dances all evening. The resort itself is lovely and the ballroom overlooks Lake Cheat. Very dramatic! Last year (2008) the cost for a double room, dancing and all meals was $350! Amazing! Here's a video from one of the morning dances:
Another favorite week is Tropical Dance Vacation with Wild Asparagus in St. Croix, Virgin Islands. The inimitable George Marshall organizes that week of dancing and enjoying the Caribbean sea! Lovely accommodations overlook a sugar white sandy beach. The dinners and midnight snacks are divine. Dancers are free during the day to explore the island, dive & snorkel the coral reef, wander the streets and enjoy the shopping of nearby Christiansted or just relax in the soft breezes wafting off the clear turquoise water.
